Creation dates: 1864 - 1876 Extent and Form: 7 journals Scope and Content 7 colliery journals (Vol 5 missing) containing a daily diary of the business and personal affairs of [James Easton] as colliery engineer for the Tyne Coal Company 1864 - 1867 and for various collieries and other engineering business in Northumberland, Durham and Yorkshire. The journals also include details of business and social meetings and horticulture, particularly the cultivation of vines and frequent references to the weather conditions. The diaries are assumed to be of James Easton as they correspond with his colliery interests and mention letters which appear in the letter book of James Easton, East/5 above, 1864 - 1876.
